University will collate and interpret vehicle data.
Aston is a research-led university that has recently been awarded ‘Internationally Excellent to World Leading’ ratings for over 40% of the research conducted by the Engineering & Applied Sciences school, by the Research Assessment Exercise conducted by the Research & Funding Councils. This ranks Aston University in the top 12 research universities in the UK.
Aston University has a distinguished history of conducting pragmatic applications research in complex data recording, analysis and pattern recognition. Aston has particularly strong links with industry, undertaking a variety of joint research programs. Under the leadership of Dr Julia King as Vice-Chancellor of the university and author of the several influential reports and policy documents on low carbon transportation, Aston University has accelerated its involvement in alternate transport solutions, including operation and assessment of a fleet of PHEV vehicles in use on the campus and within city environs.
The school of Engineering & Applied Sciences has recently been strengthened by the addition of Brian Price to the faculty, who brings 25 years experience of leading major engine and transmission development programs in industry, most notably at Ricardo consulting engineers, Lotus Engineering, Cosworth Engineering & Jaguar-Rover. Brian will be the principal investigator on this project and has successfully undertaken a number of similar projects within industry for advanced engine & vehicle usage data analysis.
Aston University's role will be to collate and interpret vehicle usage data to optimize vehicle design and charging network locations.
